Birds Nest Summer Series: Petit Architect
In this month’s edition of the Birds Nest Summer Series, we brought together our passion for architecture and design with our love for children. Partnering with the talented team at Petit Architect, they organized a fun-filled workshop focused on building Treehouses at the Birds Nest head office.
Petit Architect is a local Vancouver based company that aims to inspire the next generation of architects by keeping kids engaged in their communities and teaching them how to bring their ideas to life. Their mission is to Educate (explore and learn what a city is, who makes them, and how we all, as a community, live, work, move, and play in it), Engage (Observe, understand, and talk about architecture and urbanism. Play and create around the build environment of yesterday, today, and tomorrow) and Inspire (Contribute to the development of children as citizens and empower them to become more involved within their cities).
The kids got the chance to learn the art of architectural construction, igniting their creativity and introducing them to the fundamental principles of architecture. Throughout the event, the children got their hands busy with innovative techniques, using branches as sturdy foundations and decorating their treehouses’ walls with unique wallpapers. They even constructed adorable fences using popsicle sticks, showcasing their impressive building skills.
Parents joined in on the fun, adding their personal touches to the mix by incorporating their dream treehouse ideas. From putting greens to swimming pools, their imagination knew no bounds, and the result was a collection of truly remarkable Treehouses.
As a token of appreciation, each participant received a miniature charcuterie box from Vancouver Charcuterie, Birds Nest colouring sheets, and a BN Smiley T-Shirt!
Keep an eye out for the next event in the Birds Nest Summer Series!
